California Museum for History, Women and the Arts
Discover the people, culture, art, and history of California at The California Museum!
The Museum offers many interactive and unique programs that appeal to student and youth groups, families, and kids of all ages.
The California Museum, along with California First Lady Maria Shriver,  created the California Hall of Fame to recognize legendary Californians who have influenced the state, the nation and the world.

Exhibit
The California Hall of Fame exhibition displays many items that are on personal loan from the current inductees and have never been exhibited before.

This museum will tell California’s history in a clear, moving and innovative way and will attract, fascinate and educate visitors about our state’s history and the contributions of all of its people. In my travels throughout the state, everywhere I looked women were largely absent from the California history story.
The CA Hall of Fame
The California Museum is pleased to announce Governor Jerry Brown and First Lady Anne Gust Brown have joined as Honorary Chairs of both the Museum and our signature program, the California Hall of Fame.
The Governor and First Lady have taken an active leadership role in the selection of the 2011 inductees. We are excited about the vision and energy they bring to the Museum, as well as the appreciation they have for our mission to engage, educate, and enlighten people about California's rich history and its unique influence on the world of ideas, innovation, art and culture

We will be the first California Museum to permanently devote gallery space to the story of the California woman. This new museum will be a plus for everybody.
We will draw upon the vast knowledge of our best historians, academics, cultural experts, teachers and people interested in our state’s history to ensure no one will feel left out of the California story.
I hope to see you there.
Sincerely,
Your Lady, Maria Shriver
